Global Governance Advisors (GGA) reports that the upward trend in the prevalence of Say on Pay amongst Canada’s Top 100 companies continued this year with a 12% increase in prevalence from 57 companies to 64. Although the researchers with GGA expect this upward trend to continue, they also expect it to level off in future years as some of Canada’s largest companies are still controlled by families (e.g. Rogers, Shaw, Power Corporation, ATCO, etc.) who GGA feels are less likely to ever adopt Say on Pay due to the level of family ownership and voting structure at these companies.
