Joseph is an Associate at Global Governance Advisors with an interest in aligning executive and director pay relative to company performance. His diverse professional experience within a wide range of industries in both the public and private sector allows him to effectively analyze, design and implement strategically aligned compensation and reward systems.
Areas of Expertise
Joseph is knowledgeable about corporate finance and its link to striking a balance between pay and performance, risk, corporate strategy and shareholder interests. His experience includes capital market analysis, peer group development, compensation benchmarking, performance metric stress testing and corporate governance analysis.
Joseph has gained valuable international experience in the United States and Sri Lanka. His previous experience includes working in U.S corporate and personal tax accounting in Honolulu. He has assisted many organizations with their tax planning needs and provided advice on new business formation including compensation design. Additionally, Joseph spent time working as a Summer Associate at Nestlé Sri Lanka, where he provided insight to the legal department on strengthening their corporate governance standards and also contributed to developing a related party transactions policy. During his tenure at Nestlé he also assisted the commercial control department to measure the efficiency and effectiveness of post-promotions to utilize their resources efficiently on future promotions. Joseph developed a strong appreciation for understanding how good governance generates performance improvements and create long-term value for shareholders through both his professional and academic studies.
Joseph graduated from York University with a Master’s degree in Financial Accountability. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from Wilmington University, Delaware and is currently pursuing his Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) certification.
